Puttur: In a proud moment for the city, Puttur City Municipal Council has secured the 8th rank in Karnataka in the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

This achievement reflects Puttur’s innovative, inclusive, and efficient approach to solid waste and sanitation management. The city has accomplished 100% door-to-door waste collection and runs a well-structured waste processing system.

Key initiatives that contributed to the recognition include the installation of a biogas plant and an e-waste collection unit, both developed through public-private partnerships. These projects earned special mentions in the national cleanliness assessment.

Municipal Commissioner Madhu S Manohar noted, “Last time, we were ranked 6th under the City Municipal Council (CMC) category. This year, we’ve advanced to 2nd place in that category — and 8th overall in Karnataka.”

Puttur’s continued progress under the Swachh Survekshan reflects its commitment to sustainable urban hygiene, with strong citizen involvement and forward-thinking waste solutions.
