Puttur: In a fresh twist to the ongoing bribery investigation involving Puttur Taluk Office, Tahsildar S B Koodalagi, named as the second accused, failed to appear for inquiry before the Lokayukta police on September 2.
The case stems from an August 28 raid by Lokayukta officials, during which one person was arrested in connection with alleged bribery practices at the Taluk Office. However, the Tahsildar has remained untraceable since the raid.
Notice ignored
Following the raid, Lokayukta police had served a notice directing Koodalagi to present himself for questioning at their Mangaluru office on September 1. Despite the mandatory nature of the summons, the Tahsildar did not turn up for the hearing.
Sources said the Lokayukta police are expected to issue another notice, reiterating the need for his presence in the inquiry.
Public curiosity grows
The absence of the accused officer has sparked curiosity among the public and raised questions about his next move. Legal experts note that failure to appear before investigators could lead to further legal action, including the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued.
Conclusion
As Lokayukta police prepare to intensify their probe, all eyes are now on whether Tahsildar S B Koodalagi will comply with the next summons or face stricter legal measures. The case continues to draw attention as one of the most closely watched anti-corruption investigations in Puttur.
