Udupi – A disturbing incident involving a private bus operated by Durgamba has triggered public outrage in Udupi after the vehicle was driven in a dangerously erratic manner, putting passengers’ lives at serious risk.
The bus, which was arriving in Udupi city from Kundapur, suddenly slammed its brakes and made a sharp 180-degree turn, leaving the passengers inside shaken and alarmed. Witnesses described scenes of chaos and fear as people inside the bus panicked, unsure of what was happening.
In a bid to avoid any possible mishap, the driver accelerated rapidly, continuing to drive at high speed even after making a wrong turn near Bannanje, a densely populated part of the city. Despite the narrow roads and ongoing traffic, the bus continued on its reckless path without slowing down.
Locals who witnessed the incident expressed strong anger over the driver’s negligence, calling it a blatant disregard for safety. They accused private bus drivers, particularly in Udupi, of risking passenger safety in the name of speed and competition.
The reckless behavior of private bus operators has long been a concern in the region. This incident has renewed calls from the public for police intervention and strict enforcement of traffic laws. Citizens are now urging authorities to take immediate legal action against the driver and prevent such life-threatening actions in the future.
