Mangaluru police have registered cases against three car drivers for endangering public safety by driving recklessly with co-passengers dangerously leaning out of the vehicles. The incident occurred on the night of April 27 along the Uppinangady–Subrahmanya state highway near Perabe village in Kadaba taluk.
According to Kadaba police, video footage captured the three vehicles being driven in a hazardous manner, with passengers hanging out of the windows and shouting loudly. Based on the visuals, two cars were identified by their registration numbers—KA 19 ME 4400 and KA 34 N 5909. The number plate of the third car is yet to be traced.
Authorities acted swiftly after reviewing the viral video and registered cases under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, which deals with rash driving on public ways, and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving dangerously.
The investigation is ongoing as police attempt to identify the third vehicle and those responsible.
