Dakshina Kannada district has been placed under a red alert following intense rainfall. As a safety measure, all schools and Anganwadis will remain closed on Thursday, June 12.
The district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including government, aided, and private unaided schools, from primary to high school level. This decision has been taken to ensure student safety amid worsening weather conditions.
Parents have been advised to keep children indoors and away from low-lying regions, riversides, beaches, and lakes. Fishermen have also been strongly cautioned against going out to sea due to hazardous conditions.
Taluk-level officers have been instructed to remain stationed at their respective headquarters. Nodal officials appointed by the district have been directed to remain vigilant and respond swiftly to public concerns and emergencies. The tahsildars are expected to maintain constant communication to coordinate efforts.
As part of preventive action, both locals and visitors are strictly forbidden from accessing water bodies such as waterfalls, rivers, and coastal areas. People are also warned against capturing photos or videos in these risky zones to avoid unnecessary danger.
For any emergencies or assistance, the control room remains operational round the clock. Citizens can call the toll-free number 1077 or reach out via landline at 0824-2442590.
Authorities urge everyone to cooperate with the safety measures and stay updated through official channels.
