Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta announced that Rs 25.1 crore has been allocated under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) for the district. Out of this, Rs 24 crore will go toward building a critical care block at Wenlock District Hospital, as per a circular from the health department dated March 6, 2024.
Additionally, Rs 1.1 crore will be used to establish an integrated public health lab (IPHL) on the second floor of the hospital’s trauma care center. The tender process for both projects is complete, and the foundation stone ceremony will be held soon.
Chowta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the funds, aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure in Dakshina Kannada.
