
SACAA Alumni Day 2025 celebrated with grandeur
Mangaluru: The St. Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) hosted its eagerly awaited Alumni Day on 12th January 2025, drawing a crowd of over 600 alumni. The event was a heartwarming celebration of the shared legacy and achievements of the college’s former students.
Vision for the future
During his address, Fr. Melwin Pinto, Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, unveiled the college’s ambitious Rs. 150-crore expansion plan, which includes:
- A state-of-the-art 1,500-seater auditorium
- A modern indoor sports complex
Fr. Pinto proudly highlighted the college’s ranking among the top 60 universities in India, reaffirming its commitment to excellence.
Honouring achievements
The evening included special felicitations:
- Fr. Melwin Pinto for securing the prestigious deemed-to-be-university status for St. Aloysius
- Fr. Praveen Martis, Principal, for being named the best principal among Jesuit colleges in India
- Prof. Edmund Frank for representing India at the World Union of Jesuit Alumni in Tokyo, Japan
- Prof. Alwyn D’Sa for being recognised as the most innovative professor among Jesuit institutions in India
Highlights of the evening
- A graceful invocation dance by Swathi Bhat and team, choreographed by Kannada professor Mr. Dinesh
- Anil Kumar J., SACAA President, underscored the significance of the day
- Sumith S. Rao, convener and chairman, welcomed attendees and served as master of ceremonies
- Conrad Nazareth, SACAA Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks
The formal programme transitioned into an evening of entertainment, featuring:
- A lively Baila performance
- A performance by a live band
- Fun games hosted by Mrs. Flona, a college staff member
The event concluded with a dinner, leaving participants with cherished memories of camaraderie and pride in their alma mater.
