Mangaluru, June 28, 2024: Savitha Salian from Mangaluru will take charge as the District Director of District 121 of Toastmasters International on July 1, 2024. This marks the first time a member from a Mangaluru club has held this top position in the Toastmasters district hierarchy. Savitha is an active member of Winners Club Toastmasters, Port Town Advanced Toastmasters, and Let’s Debate Toastmasters. She was unanimously elected during the district elections in May.
“I am grateful to the Toastmasters community for choosing me for this coveted post, and I shall do my best for the organization,” said Savitha, who is also a homemaker, soft skills trainer, and English language trainer. She has previously served as Club Growth Director and Programme Quality Director for the district.
District 121, which includes Kerala and Karnataka, was chartered in 2020 and comprises 174 clubs across 10 divisions, with over 3,600 members. Savitha’s tenure will run from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, during which she will lead a team of 58 office bearers, including an 8-member executive committee, 10 division directors, and 40 area directors.
Toastmasters International, celebrating its centenary this year, is a non-profit educational organization that enhances self-confidence and public speaking skills. It has a global network of 14,200 clubs in 148 countries, with 270,000 members, providing a supportive environment for individuals to refine their voices and develop leadership skills.
