According to the complaint, the victim uploaded their bio-data on Indeed.com for an overseas job opportunity. Subsequently, they received an email from a stranger posing as a representative of a company called Darrell Lea Confectionary Co. The email, which included a job application, claimed that the victim had been selected for the position.

Trusting the sender, the victim provided personal documents and information as requested. In return, the scammer sent fabricated documents such as offer letters, agreements, and visa confirmation letters. Over a period from April 4 to May 6, the victim transferred Rs 36.34 lakh in multiple installments for various purported fees.

Upon realizing the company was fake, the victim lodged a complaint with the cyber police station, seeking legal action against the perpetrator. This incident serves as a cautionary tale against online scams and underscores the importance of verifying the authenticity of job offers and companies before sharing personal information or making financial transactions.
