Shamaan Ali, a 26-year-old security guard from Assam, was discovered dead near the OMPAL gate of an MRPL subsidiary in the Mangaluru Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) on Saturday. His body was found hanging from a tree, with his uniform wrapped around it.
Reports indicate that Ali jumped from a compound wall, approximately 15 feet high, and walked 300-400 meters before taking his own life. CCTV footage showed that he was on duty at OMPAL until 4 AM, after which he disappeared.
The Bajpe police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
