Senior Citizen Dies After Accidental Jackfruit Fall In Mangaluru

A tragic accident claimed the life of an 80-year-old senior citizen, Kashmir D’Souza, in Mangaluru on Sunday. The incident occurred in Vitla Kasaba village while laborers were engaged in spraying fungicide on the areca crops. Kashmir D’Souza, who was assisting the laborers, was struck on the head by a falling jackfruit around 4 PM.

Victor D’Souza, 48, Kashmir’s son, stated in his complaint that he was away in Mangaluru at the time of the incident. According to Praveen, one of the laborers, the jackfruit suddenly fell from the tree and hit Kashmir’s head. Realizing the severity of the situation, Praveen immediately called a relative for help. Observing that Kashmir was bleeding from the nose and was unresponsive, they acted quickly to rush him to the Puttur Government Hospital.

Despite their swift actions, doctors at the hospital examined Kashmir and declared him dead. The impact of the jackfruit fall had caused significant injury, leading to his unfortunate demise.

This incident has been registered as a case at the Vittal police station, where further investigations are likely to take place. The sudden and unexpected nature of this accident has brought immense grief to the D’Souza family and the local community. It serves as a reminder of the unforeseen dangers that can occur even during routine activities.
