Mangaluru: A man accused of extorting young women by falsely claiming to possess their explicit videos has been taken into custody by Kadri police. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Satish Hosmar from Eedu village in Karkala, allegedly threatened to share the fabricated content on social media unless his demands were met.

Satish reportedly obtained the contact details and social media profiles of several women, using them as leverage to intimidate and manipulate them. His activities came to light after one of the victims lodged a complaint at the Kadri police station, prompting law enforcement officers to take swift action. Following an investigation, authorities tracked him down and placed him under arrest.

Further inquiries revealed that Satish is a repeat offender with multiple cases registered against him in Karkala. He had previously been convicted in a theft case and served a prison sentence just last year. His criminal record and past offenses indicate a pattern of unlawful behavior, raising concerns about other potential victims.

The arrest of the accused has brought relief to the victims, and the police are urging anyone who may have fallen prey to his threats to come forward. Authorities have reassured that strict legal action will be taken to prevent such crimes and ensure the safety of citizens.
