Sharada Prasad and his wife, Nalini Prasad, have generously donated Rs 1.25 crore to the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust, in recognition of its efforts to support and promote Yakshagana artists. Sharada Prasad, a devoted follower of Pavanje Shri Jnanashakti Subrahmanya Swami Kshetra and admirer of Yakshagana Bhagavatha Patla Sathish Shetty, made the donation during Shetty’s housewarming ceremony.
Later that evening, the couple was honoured for their philanthropy during a Yakshagana performance of Shri Devi Mahatme by the Pavanje troupe. The event was attended by Shashindra Kumar, administrative trustee of Pavanje Shri Jnanashakti Subrahmanya Swami Kshetra, and key office bearers of the Patla Foundation.
The Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust is dedicated to supporting Yakshagana artists through financial assistance, training programmes, and workshops. It also honours achievers in the field and promotes self-sufficiency. The foundation, with branches in the UAE and the US, has a significant presence in major Indian cities. Key initiatives include the Patla Yakshashraya project, which aims to provide housing for underprivileged Yakshagana artists, and the Yakshadhruva Yaksha Shikshana programme, offering free Yakshagana lessons to government and residential school students.
