Mangaluru: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has accused the Karnataka state government of orchestrating a deliberate cover-up of the recent foot trampling incident, claiming that a new issue was suddenly brought up to divert public attention.

Speaking to the media in Mangaluru, she alleged, “The state administration has crafted a well-planned conspiracy to bury the foot trampling case. They called me to the Centre only to manufacture a distraction. Why was this announcement made overnight? It’s clearly meant to shift focus from the real issue.”

Shobha went on to say that the government’s actions are not intended to uplift any community, but rather to sow division among them. “There is no genuine interest in supporting any caste. Instead, these tactics are being used to foster division and unrest,” she said.

Targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, she claimed that every time he comes to power, there’s a fresh attempt to fragment society along caste lines. “He has quietly carried out a caste census with a hidden agenda—to inflate the numbers of minorities in the state and justify increased reservation for them,” Shobha alleged.

Calling it a dangerous conspiracy, she accused the ruling party of using caste as a tool for vote-bank politics and social manipulation.
