Shocking Animal Cruelty Incident in Mangaluru: Dog Pepper Sprayed by Miscreants
MANGALURU: In a disturbing act of animal cruelty, a dog was seen running frantically near Bunts Hostel Circle on Wednesday after miscreants allegedly sprayed pepper spray into his eyes. Tauseef Ahmed, an animal rescuer, reported that the community dog, approximately seven years old and likely an abandoned pet, has been in the area for the past seven months. Known for his friendly nature, the dog, named PK by Ahmed, often plays with locals during their morning walks.
“The dog was running all over the road, unable to open his eyes, and colliding with vehicles and walls. I received a video of his distressing condition and was shocked to recognize PK, one of the dogs I regularly feed. I rushed to the scene and found that miscreants had sprayed pepper spray into his eyes. PK loves to play, and it seems someone was annoyed by his behavior,” said Ahmed.
A kind neighbor initially washed the dog’s eyes, and upon Ahmed’s arrival, eye drops were administered to alleviate his discomfort. PK was also given an analgesic to reduce inflammation and pain. The eye drops were entrusted to Meha, who reported the incident and will continue administering them for the next few days.
“It is horrifying what some people do just because they dislike animals. The miscreant not only harmed PK but also endangered people’s lives, as the dog could have caused an accident. This seems to be a planned tactic. Fortunately, PK is recovering well,” Ahmed added. This incident follows a recent case in Udupi where police booked a man after a video of him dragging a dog tied to his two-wheeler went viral.
