Mangaluru: St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, successfully organised Technova-2025, the annual final-year UG project exhibition, on 27 November 2025. The event featured a diverse range of engineering innovations across eight disciplines, including design studies, analytical work, and applied research. The exhibition was held from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM under the coordination of Ms. Divya K Pai, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The programme commenced with an inaugural address by the Principal, Dr. Rio D’Souza, who highlighted the academic significance of final-year projects and the objective of Technova as a structured platform for showcasing engineering competence. He emphasised that all teams deserve equal attention, noting that the exhibition demonstrates the culmination of students’ academic learning and technical skills. He also encouraged lower-semester students to observe the exhibits to learn about project standards and expectations.
Dr. D’Souza further stated that judging criteria were centred on technical merit, originality, and clarity of presentation, with awards presented to the best-performing teams alongside a dedicated “Most Innovative Project” prize in each department.
This year’s Most Innovative Projects included:
- Mechanical Engineering (ME): RC Controlled Lake/Water Surface Cleaner
- Civil Engineering (CV): Synergistic Effects of Induction Steel Furnace in Alkali-Activated Slag Composites
- Computer Science Engineering (CSE): Real-Time Face Recognition and Content Projection Using Smart Glasses
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE): Real-Time Soil Analysis and Crop Recommendations Using IoT
- Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE): Real-Time Spatial and Navigation of Pedicle Probes
- AIML: AI-Driven Adaptive Signal Control for Optimizing Traffic Flow
- CSDS: Camera-Based Sound Tracking Servo
- CSBS: Multimodal Agentic Framework for Behavioural Profiling
Senior administrators—including Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director; Rev. Fr. Kenneth Rayner Crasta, Assistant Director; Dr. Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal; and Dr. John Edward D’Silva, Chief Administrative Officer—visited the exhibition along with Deans, HoDs, and project coordinators, interacting with student innovators and evaluators.
A total of 25 external evaluators from industry, research organisations, and academic institutions joined internal faculty in assessing more than 183 projects. Each department announced First, Second, and Third prizes, as well as the Innovative Project Award.
Technova 2025 reaffirmed SJEC’s commitment to innovation-focused, practice-driven engineering education and to nurturing a research-oriented student community.
