Puttur: Spandana, a second-year BSc student from St Philomena Autonomous College, has achieved a historic silver medal at the South Zone Inter-University Weightlifting Championship for the 2024-25 season. Held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, from November 26 to 28, the competition was organised under the Association of Indian Universities.

A trailblazing achievement

Competing in the 45 kg category, Spandana became the first woman weightlifter from St Philomena Autonomous College to secure a medal in this prestigious championship. Her exceptional performance not only earned her a podium finish but also qualified her for the National Level Inter-University Weightlifting Competition, a significant milestone for the college.
