MANGALURU: Speaker UT Khader has proposed that plaques displaying the Preamble of the Constitution, similar to the one in the legislative assembly, be installed in ministers’ residences, MLAs’ homes, all government offices, and NGOs. He suggested that the government issue a directive for this initiative, emphasizing the importance of everyone knowing the Preamble by heart.
Khader also announced plans to digitize the legislative assembly through a mobile application. A high-level committee has been formed to develop a detailed plan for this digitization project.
Addressing the controversy over the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, Khader defended his decision to block a debate on the issue. He stated that no matter pending before a commission of inquiry can be raised through an adjournment motion, adhering strictly to procedural rules to avoid setting a bad precedent.
BJP and JD(S) MLAs accused Khader of protecting the chief minister by not allowing the discussion on the MUDA scam. In response, Khader clarified that his decision was based on following the rules. The opposition parties protested by staging an all-night dharna in the assembly, which led to the premature conclusion of the monsoon session by a day.
