In response to the request of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, the railways have announced special train services to accommodate the increased number of pilgrims attending the Mahakumbh Mela. A special train (train on demand) will run from Udupi to Prayagraj on February 17 and from Prayagraj to Udupi on February 20, to manage the extra rush.

Train No. 01192 Udupi-Tundla Mahakumbh Special will depart Udupi at 12.30 p.m. on February 17 and will reach Prayagraj at 6.25 a.m. on February 19. The train will then proceed to Tundla Junction, arriving at 1 p.m. the same day. On the return journey, Train No. 01191 Tundla-Udupi Mahakumbh Special will depart Tundla Junction at 9.30 a.m. on February 20, followed by a departure from Prayagraj at 6.25 p.m., reaching Udupi at 6.10 p.m. on February 22, as per a notification from Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd.

The Udupi-Tundla Mahakumbh Special will pass through several stations including Barkur, Kundapura, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Bhatkal, Murdeshwar, Kumta, Gokarna Road, Karwar, and Madgaon, before continuing to Prayagraj. On the return journey, the train will pass through Madgaon, Karwar, Gokarna Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Bhatkal, and other stations before reaching Udupi.

The train will feature 21 ICF coaches, including one 2-tier AC, five 3-tier AC, 10 second class sleeper, two general second class coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans, along with a pantry car (in locked condition). Advance reservations for these services are expected to begin from Friday.
