
Srinivas Nayak Indaje Joins State Panel for Journalists’ Bus Passes
Mangaluru: Senior journalist Srinivas Nayak Indaje, president of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association, has been appointed to the state-level committee tasked with implementing the government’s free bus pass scheme for rural journalists.
Announced in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s budget, the initiative provides complimentary bus passes for rural journalists to travel within district limits for professional purposes. A nine-member committee, chaired by the Commissioner of the Information and Public Relations Department, was formed to oversee application reviews and pass distribution.
The committee includes representatives from prominent journalist associations such as the Karnataka Working Journalists Association, Bangalore Reporters Association, Karnataka Small and District Newspapers Association, and Bangalore Photojournalist Association. Notable members include Shivananda Tagadoor, M. Chandrashekar, H.L. Suresh, and Mohan Kumar, with Gangadhar Bandihal serving as a special invitee.
Srinivas Nayak Indaje, representing Dakshina Kannada, will serve a two-year term on the panel. The Deputy Director of the News and Press Branch of the Information and Public Relations Department will act as the committee’s Member Secretary.
This initiative aims to ease travel for rural journalists, fostering improved access to professional opportunities and coverage. The committee’s work is critical to ensuring the scheme’s smooth rollout and its accessibility to eligible journalists.
