The SSLC examination in Dakshina Kannada district began without any issues on Friday, with officials confirming that there were no reported malpractices or disruptions. A total of 228 students were absent on the first day of the exams, which were held across 92 centres in the district. Officials, teachers, and parents all praised the extensive preparations made to ensure a smooth examination process.
While a few centres experienced brief power outages, teachers assured that these minor disruptions did not cause any major inconvenience to the candidates. Govinda Madivala, the DDPI for Dakshina Kannada, shared that 28,925 students had registered for the first language exam, with the highest absenteeism recorded in Bantwal, Sullia, and Mangaluru South.
One teacher noted that many students had anticipated questions from modern Kannada, but the exam included more questions from Haḷegannada (Old Kannada). To ensure the integrity of the examination process, the education department installed CCTV cameras at all 92 centres, and the footage was live-streamed to the DK Zilla Panchayat office, where senior officials monitored the situation throughout the day.
