Mangaluru: St. Agnes College (Autonomous) successfully hosted the two-day district-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Program on March 22 and 23, 2025. The event was jointly organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, National Service Scheme (NSS), Mangalore University, and St. Agnes College.
A Platform for Youth Empowerment
The program aimed to engage and empower young minds by providing them a platform to discuss and deliberate on key national issues. The primary objective was to enhance awareness among youth about the Indian Constitution and the Parliamentary system, fostering a sense of responsibility and civic participation.
The event saw participation from over 150 students representing Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kodagu districts, selected from over 300 districts nationwide. These participants competed in a three-minute speech competition on the topic “One Nation, One Election”, expressing their views on electoral reforms and governance.
Inauguration and Keynote Address
The program was inaugurated by Sr Dr M Venissa, Principal of St. Agnes College, who underscored the crucial role of youth in shaping India’s future. She stated:
“Students are the future leaders of the country. The youth have a significant responsibility to protect the integrity and heritage of the country. Our goal should be to brighten the future of the country through poverty eradication and women empowerment.”
