
St Philomena College Puttur Observes International Democracy Day with Human Chain
In a spirited demonstration of solidarity and civic duty, St Philomena College, Puttur, celebrated International Democracy Day by organizing a human chain along NH 275, symbolizing the core democratic values of freedom, equality, and brotherhood.
Led by Principal Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, administrative staff, and a large number of students. Dr Monteiro administered a “Democracy Day” oath, urging everyone to uphold democratic principles, unity, and responsibility.
Students from various college bodies, including the National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Rovers and Rangers, Youth Red Cross Society, and the Performing Arts Unit, actively joined the event, showcasing the college’s commitment to democracy.
Vice-Principal Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, IQAC coordinator Dr Malini K, and several other coordinators, including NSS officers Dr Chandrashekhar K and Pushpa, Rovers and Rangers coordinators Khalander Shereef and Shreeraksha, Youth Red Cross Unit coordinator Dr Dimple J Fernandes, and administrative head Rufina D’Souza, also played key roles in making the event a success.
