The CFAL Astro Club is set to host its annual Astro Night, a public outreach and citizen science initiative that brings the marvels of the universe and stars within reach. Open to all age groups, this celestial event will take place on February 2, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the CFAL campus, Akashbhavan.

🔭 Inspirational Talk:
The evening begins with an insightful session by renowned astrophysicist Dr. Prajval Shastri, formerly of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru. Specializing in supermassive black holes and active galaxies, Dr. Shastri will simplify complex cosmic phenomena for the audience.

🌌 Hands-On Astronomy:
Attendees can engage in amateur astrophotography and stargazing, viewing celestial wonders like the craters of the crescent moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and the mesmerizing Orion Nebula.

Telescope Viewing:
The highlight of the night will be telescope observations, offering breathtaking views through:

  • A manual 16” telescope for hands-on exploration.
  • Automatic Dobsonian telescopes, ensuring ease of use and stunning clarity.
  • Other advanced telescopes, providing a diverse stargazing experience.
