Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on January 14 to join the shoot of the Tulu film Jai. Directed by and starring Rock Star Roopesh Shetty, the film marks Shetty’s highly anticipated debut in Tulu cinema.

Shetty was warmly greeted by Roopesh Shetty upon his arrival. The actor had long expressed an interest in acting in a Tulu film, and with a gap in his schedule, the opportunity finally materialized. He will now participate in key scenes as the movie enters its final production phase on January 15.

Speaking about his debut, Sunil Shetty said, “I’ve always wanted to be part of a Tulu film, and the progress of Tulu cinema in recent years has been impressive. When Roopesh Shetty shared the story of Jai, I knew it was the right opportunity. I frequently visit Mangaluru and its nearby places like Bappanadu, Subramanya, and Dharmasthala, so being part of Tulu cinema is especially meaningful to me. I hope actors from Coastalwood will also have opportunities in Bollywood.”

Jai is a high-budget film shot across stunning coastal locations like Kuthar, Dambel, and Maravoor, featuring prominent actors from Dakshina Kannada. Produced under Jai Cinema, RS Cinemas, Shoolin Films, and Mugrodi Productions, the film includes cinematography by Vinut K, music by Loy Valentine Saldanha, and editing by Rahul Vasista.

The star-studded cast includes Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil, Raj Deepak Shetty, Aravind Bolar, and Adhvithi Shetty in the lead female role. Roopesh Shetty, who rose to fame with Girgit, Gamjaal, and Circus, is excited for the film’s release as it wraps up its third and final shooting phase this January.
