Puttur: A tragic discovery was made in Urva, Olamogru village, on November 3, when the skull and bones of a woman, believed to have committed suicide, were found hanging from a tree in a forested area in front of her house. The deceased has been identified as Nalini, wife of Sanjeev, a resident of Urva. According to initial investigations, Nalini is suspected to have taken her life nearly a month ago.

Nalini had reportedly gone missing in early October, with her husband, Sanjeev, last visiting the Sambya police station on October 8 to report her disappearance. Despite the initial report, Sanjeev did not follow up on the case with the authorities, and no formal complaint was lodged until Nalini’s family grew concerned and began searching for her near Sanjeev’s residence. On November 2, they discovered a rope hanging from a tree on a hill in front of the house, with strands of hair attached. Beneath the rope, skeletal remains, including the skull and bones of the hands and legs, were found.

Authorities, including Tahsildar Purandara Hegde and officials from the Puttur Rural Police, visited the site, securing the remains for forensic examination. Local representatives from Ulmogru Gram Panchayat, including President Triveni Pallatharu, Village Assistant Deepak, and others, were also present at the scene.

Nalini had been married to Sanjeev in a mass marriage ceremony in Dharmasthala around one-and-a-half years ago. Family members stated that she frequently visited her mother’s home in Kanyana, and they are seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding her death.
