Sword terror strikes again in Mangaluru, leaves one dead and one critical
In a chilling repeat of recent violence, a man lost his life and another was gravely injured in a sword assault reported on Tuesday from Kambodi Kalpane, located in Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada district near Mangaluru.
According to police officials, two individuals were targeted in the attack. While both sustained severe injuries, one of them succumbed to his wounds during treatment at a nearby hospital. The second victim is currently in a critical condition and receiving intensive care.
The deceased has been identified as Imteyaaz, who served as the Secretary of a local mosque in Mangaluru. His companion, Rahman, continues to battle for survival.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack, and a manhunt is underway to trace the culprits responsible for the brutal act. The incident has left the local community shocked and demanding stronger safety measures.
This sword assault is the second such incident in the region within a month, raising concerns over rising street violence and vendetta-driven crimes.
Earlier in May, Suhas Shetty, an individual facing multiple criminal charges and believed to be linked with local right-wing groups, was murdered in broad daylight. He was allegedly killed by a group of five assailants armed with swords and machetes. Reports suggest the attackers were hired by relatives of one of Shetty’s previous victims.
The back-to-back killings have sparked anxiety in Mangaluru, with calls for enhanced policing and community protection measures gaining momentum.
