Mangalore: The district administration has introduced temporary traffic restrictions on the Mangalore-Udupi route due to repair work on the old arch bridge at Koolur.

From August 19th to 21st, heavy vehicles will be barred from using the old bridge during daylight hours (6 AM to 11 AM and 3 PM to 10 PM). During these times, heavy vehicles must use the new bridge. Traffic on the new bridge will be limited to two-way movement between 10 PM and 6 AM, and 11 AM to 3 PM.

For heavy vehicles traveling from Udupi to Kerala during restricted hours, an alternate route via Mulki-Suratkal-MRPL-Bajpe-KPT-Nantoor is advised.

The restrictions are temporary and will be reassessed on August 25th, based on traffic flow and repair progress. District Collector Mullai Mugilan has urged the public to cooperate with these restrictions and follow the designated routes to minimise congestion and delays.

Although the repair work may cause some inconvenience, authorities assure that these measures are essential for public safety and the timely completion of the project.
