The wedding festivities for Tharun Sudhir and Sonal Monteiro continued in Mangaluru, blending rich cultural traditions from both sides. As a Mangalurean Catholic, Sonal was eager for her groom, Tharun, to experience her cultural heritage, and he ensured that his family and friends embraced it fully.
The celebrations kicked off with a traditional Christian “roce” ceremony, where the bride was anointed with coconut milk, symbolizing a blessed start to the wedding proceedings. This was followed by a formal church wedding where the newlyweds gave heartfelt speeches. Tharun charmed the guests with his short and sweet speech in Tulu, expressing his joy at being “Kudlada Marmaye” (Mangaluru’s son-in-law), which was met with enthusiastic applause.
The festivities concluded with a lively celebration filled with music, dance, and fun. The best man, Prem, added to the cheer by popping open the bubbly and playfully declaring, “hic hic hurray,” to the delight of everyone present.
