Mangaluru: The ongoing investigation into the notorious “Chaddi Gang,” responsible for a series of burglaries across multiple states, has revealed shocking details about the gang’s operations and training methods.
Interrogations of gang members, arrested for burglaries in Mangaluru and other parts of Karnataka, have uncovered that children as young as 10 are trained in theft. These young recruits are subjected to physical and mental abuse to prepare them for a life of crime.
The Chaddi Gang, also known as the Pardi Gang, originates from the Guna district in Madhya Pradesh. The gang comprises over 200 families, with theft and burglary as their main source of income, supplemented by small-scale farming.
Operating nationwide, the gang targets homes and sells stolen goods at festivals and markets. Their well-organized network enables them to disappear swiftly, making them difficult to trace.
The gang is equipped with advanced hydraulic cutters, used to break into homes. They conceal these tools in bags and under their clothing, further complicating detection.
Mangaluru police, currently investigating the gang’s activities, are close to completing the chargesheet. New details regarding their operations are continuing to emerge.
The name “Chaddi Gang” derives from their distinctive attire—wearing only undergarments (chaddi) during their heists, which helps them escape easily and leave minimal evidence.
The exposure of the Chaddi Gang’s methods serves as both a warning to homeowners and a testament to the police’s efforts in combating organized crime.
