Mangaluru: Three individuals, including a woman, lost their lives in separate road mishaps within Bantwal traffic police station limits. In a tragic incident at Ramalkatte, 69-year-old G.A. Gafoor from Arkula succumbed to injuries when an SUV veered off course, jumped the road divider, and collided head-on with a tipper lorry moving in the opposite direction. A co-passenger in the SUV also lost their life in the crash, which occurred on Saturday.
In another accident near Thumbe, a pedestrian named Mahabala, 47, was fatally struck by a pick-up lorry while crossing the road on Saturday evening. Police reported that the lorry, traveling from Mangaluru, knocked him down, leading to his immediate demise.
On Friday, a hit-and-run near 10th Mile, Farangipete, claimed the life of 60-year-old Vasanthi. She suffered critical injuries after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the road. The driver fled the scene but was later traced using CCTV footage.
Authorities urge motorists to drive cautiously to prevent further tragedies.
