Bantwal – Kavya K Nayak, a native of Thumbe, has been conferred a PhD by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, for her pioneering research titled ‘Electrochemical Continuous Glucose Monitoring Sensors for Effective Management of Diabetes’.
She conducted her research under the mentorship of Prof Navakant Bhat, Dean of the Interdisciplinary Sciences Division and a professor at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, IISc.
Kavya’s work focused on developing electrochemical sensor technology to enable real-time and accurate glucose monitoring, aiming to significantly improve diabetes management.
Daughter of Roopa and K Krishna Nayak of Thumbe, Kavya is married to Girish N Pai of Mandarthi. She currently works as an assistant professor at RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru.
Her achievement stands as a proud moment for the coastal Karnataka academic and scientific community.
