Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory due to scheduled maintenance work on NH-66 near the Kulur old bridge. The road repairs will take place between 8 PM on Tuesday, July 22, and 8 AM on Thursday, July 25, along the stretch from KIOCL Junction to Ayyappa Temple.

To manage traffic flow, the Kulur new bridge will temporarily function as a two-way road for vehicles heading from Mangaluru to Udupi. This change is expected to cause heavy congestion, especially between Kodikal Cross–KIOCL Junction and Panambur Junction–KIOCL Junction.

Public Advisory:

Travelers, especially those commuting between Mangaluru and Udupi, are advised to avoid the affected route during peak hours. Alternative routes have been suggested for smoother traffic movement:

Alternate Routes:

  • Udupi to Bengaluru/Mysuru: Divert via Padubidri – Karkala – Moodbidri.

  • Udupi/Mulki to Mangaluru: Take left at Mulki Vijaya Sannidhi, then via Kinnigoli – Kateel – Bajpe – Maravoor – Kavoor.

  • Mangaluru to Udupi: Travel through Kavoor – Maravoor – Bajpe – Kateel – Kinnigoli – Mulki Vijaya Sannidhi.

  • B C Road/Bengaluru/Mysuru to Udupi: Use Bikarnakatte – Kulasekhar – Vamanjoor – Kaikamba – Bajpe – Kateel – Kinnigoli – Mulki Vijaya Sannidhi.

  • For Heavy Vehicles:

All gas, diesel, and fuel tankers heading to/from MCF, ONGC, HPCL, BPCL, IOCL, Total Gas, BASF, Raftar, Aegis, etc., should avoid peak traffic hours and use the Kulur new bridge only during non-peak times.

Police Commissioner has appealed to all drivers and the public to cooperate with the advisory for smoother traffic and public safety during the repair period.
