In a disturbing turn of events, three men have been taken into custody in connection with two brutal stabbing attacks that rocked Mangaluru in the early hours of Thursday. The assaults, occurring just hours apart, have left the community rattled and police on high alert.
The first incident unfolded around 12:30 am near Thokottu, where 40-year-old Faizal, a resident of Ullal, was reportedly attacked by unidentified individuals. Authorities promptly registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Ullal Police Station and launched a probe.
Barely three hours later, another stabbing was reported in Kannur, falling under the Kankanady Town Police Station limits. The victim, Naushad (39), was immediately shifted to Unity Hospital for medical attention. A separate criminal case was filed under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
After pursuing multiple leads and analyzing surveillance data, police detained three suspects—Lohitashwa (32), Puneet (28), and Ganesh Prasad (23). The trio has allegedly admitted to being involved in both attacks, police sources said.
A senior officer confirmed that the reason behind these assaults is still being probed. Since the victims and witnesses reportedly do not know the accused, a Test Identification Parade (TIP) will be arranged as per legal protocol. To maintain the fairness of the TIP, authorities have refrained from disclosing the suspects’ photographs.
The investigation remains active as officials piece together the full story.
