Mangaluru: In response to the recent murder of Suhas Shetty in the Kinnipadavu area of Bajpe, Karnataka Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader has called for immediate and decisive action from law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and public order in the region.

Directs police to act swiftly

Speaker U.T. Khader has issued strict instructions to the District Superintendent of Police, urging a swift crackdown to identify and arrest the assailants. Emphasising the seriousness of the incident, Khader stressed the need for a comprehensive and transparent investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.

He further appealed to law enforcement to mobilise all available resources, including forensic and technical capabilities, to expedite the probe and reassure the public of safety and order.

Engages with top leadership for stability

Taking a proactive approach, Speaker Khader has also held discussions with the Chief Minister and the Home Department, pressing the need for coordinated efforts to prevent any escalation of tension in the wake of the high-profile killing.

He emphasised the need to implement preventive strategies that would ensure communal harmony, particularly in light of the sensitive nature of the murder. The Speaker highlighted that such incidents should not disrupt inter-community relations or public confidence in law enforcement.

Calls for calm and cooperation

Khader’s intervention comes at a time when public anxiety is high following the brazen sword attack on Suhas Shetty, a known rowdy sheeter and accused in the 2022 Fazil murder case. With the video of the attack circulating widely, local authorities are on high alert.

In a public message, Khader urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities. “Maintaining peace is a collective responsibility. Let us not allow such incidents to divide our communities,” he said.

Government committed to law and order

The government is expected to ramp up surveillance, patrolling, and intelligence gathering in sensitive areas of Mangaluru to prevent retaliatory violence. Police have already launched an extensive manhunt for the suspects, and special teams have been deployed to gather leads.

Speaker U.T. Khader’s firm response and engagement with the state leadership reflect the administration’s resolve to not only solve the case but also ensure long-term peace and communal stability in Mangaluru.
