Mangaluru: The 22nd quinquennial and 432nd annual Uroos of the historic Sayyid Mohammed Shareeful Madani Dargah, widely known as Ullal Dargah, will take place from Thursday until May 18. The event will be held under the spiritual leadership of Khazi Sultanul Ulama Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar.

As a key part of the celebration, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Sayyid Madani Grand Masjid on May 16. According to the dargah committee president, Haneef Haji, the mosque will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore and will become one of Karnataka’s largest upon completion.

The current mosque, built 75 years ago, often faces overcrowding. The new structure will accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers at once. The architectural plan blends traditional Indian styles and is being developed by design experts from Kerala and Karnataka. The construction is expected to be completed within three years.

The Uroos will be formally inaugurated by Sayyidul Ulama Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal, with special prayers led by Sayyid Hamid Imbichikoya Thangal. From April 26 to May 14, eminent scholars will conduct spiritual discourses. Around 25 lakh devotees from across India and abroad are anticipated to attend the 25-day event.

A large-scale annadanam (community feast) is planned for May 18, with nearly five lakh participants. Educational seminars and conferences will also take place. The dargah committee has requested KSRTC to arrange extra buses for pilgrims. Meanwhile, NHAI officials have assured quick completion of repairs on the NH-66 bridge across the Nethravati.
