Mangaluru– A week-long photo exhibition titled ‘Mangalore, Back Then – Through The Eyes Of Yajna’ will open this Saturday at the Kodialguthu Centre for Art and Culture, Ballalbagh. The show is being organized by the Mangaluru Chapter of INTACH in collaboration with the Art Kanara Trust.
This retrospective exhibition will feature rare black-and-white photographs by veteran photojournalist Yajna (Yajneshwara Acharya), captured between 1970 and 2000, offering a nostalgic window into Mangaluru’s urban and rural life during a period of significant transition.
An exclusive preview is scheduled for 5:30 PM on Saturday, with the exhibition open to the public daily from 11 AM to 7 PM until July 26.
Yajna, celebrated for his painterly eye and deep emotional sensitivity, documented the evolving Kanara landscape over decades. Also featured will be selections from his recent photographic journey along the Kanara coast, undertaken with architect-photographer Murali Abbemane and writer-photographer Deekshith R Pai.
Curated under the Mangalore Art & Archival Project, the display offers a visual dialogue between the past and present, reflecting Yajna’s timeless perspective on a region in flux.
