Mangaluru – In a major breakthrough, Dakshina Kannada police have arrested Babloo Kumar, a man who had been absconding for nearly a decade in connection with a 2015 rape case reported in Vitla.
The accused, hailing from Behta in Patna district, Bihar, was wanted under several sections of the Indian Penal Code including rape (Section 376G), house trespass (448), wrongful restraint (341), voluntarily causing hurt (323), criminal intimidation (506), and common intention (34).
The incident had taken place on the night of November 4, 2015, within the jurisdiction of Vitla Police Station. Despite repeated summons, Babloo Kumar evaded arrest and skipped court proceedings, remaining out of reach for law enforcement for nine years.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the Vitla police team, with support from the local police in Bihar, successfully traced and apprehended him in Behta, Patna. The accused was then brought to Karnataka and produced before the court on July 13.
Legal proceedings are now in progress, marking a significant development in the long-pending case.
