In a proud moment for Karnataka and Mangalore University, 11 athletes from Alva’s Education Foundation’s Sports Adoption Scheme have been selected to represent India at the 2025 World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, scheduled from July 16 to 27.
This milestone takes Alva’s total tally of global university-level athletes to 32 since 2015. The selection trials were held at KIIT, Bhubaneswar, and the chosen athletes will represent Mangalore University, having trained under Alva’s intensive sports nurturing programme.

Speaking at a press briefing, Dr. M Mohan Alva, president of the Foundation, described the achievement as a matter of immense institutional and regional pride.
Each athlete’s journey to Germany entails a cost of ₹2.5 lakh. Mangalore University will provide ₹75,000 per athlete, with the remaining costs covered by the Foundation.
