In a heart warming success story, White Doves NGO, a renowned organisation dedicated to helping the psychosocial destitute among their other philanthropic works, has successfully reunited 450 individuals with their families pan India after years of separation.
This reunion involved a man by name Shivkumar who was found living in destitution in the bus stand outside the Superintendent of Police office in Pandeshwer in mangalore and after 14 years is being taken back to his family in Chhattisgarh.
Shivkumar, with no memory of his past joined the family of White Doves in their home for Destitute. He often would suddenly make loud sounds and keep talking to himself. He often would try walking out saying he’s going home but did not know where his home was said Corrine Rasquinha the Founder of White Doves.
It was recently he suddenly remembered his uncles name and some details after which the Manager Jerald worked on it for two weeks till he tracked down the uncle in Chattisgarh.
Shivkumar was mentally not sound since childhood moved to delhi along with his mother and uncle after his father’s death in 2008 and worked at construction sites. They lived close to the railway station. Shivkumar would hang around the railway station.
His Mother fell off the building in 2009 and broke her hip and remained bed ridden . So the uncles leaving Shivkumar in delhi went to Chattisgarh to drop off the mother of Shivkumar on their return Shivkumar was not to be found. Their frantic search yielded no results. His bed ridden mother who was heart broken who longed to see her son alive sadly passed away two years back .
The uncle and cousin were at white Doves today happy to know that Shivkumar had been well cared for at white Doves and with tears expressed their willingness to take him back to Chattisgarh to live with his younger brother and family.
