A tragic accident in Brahmavar on Sunday claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman, Nagaveni. The incident occurred when she was riding pillion on a motorbike with her husband, Sathish, as they were traveling from Byndoor to Manipal along National Highway-66.
According to Sathish’s complaint, as they neared Shettigar Industries in Heruru village, a container truck, driving at high speed, approached them from behind. The truck’s driver allegedly lost control, swerving to the extreme left and striking the motorbike’s right handlebar. The collision caused both Sathish and Nagaveni to fall off the bike.
While Sathish suffered injuries to his arm and thigh, Nagaveni sustained severe injuries to her face, left arm, and head. The truck driver, however, did not stop and fled the scene immediately after the crash. Sathish and Nagaveni were rushed to a hospital in Brahmavar for treatment, but despite efforts, Nagaveni tragically passed away from her injuries.
Brahmavar police have registered a case and are investigating the hit-and-run incident.
