Incident unfolds at riverbank
Sources said that while the two were near the river, Navya suddenly jumped into the Gurupura River. Her friend, who was with her at the time, was reportedly taken by shock and immediately tried to rescue her. In a desperate attempt to save Navya, the friend held her hand and tried to pull her back to safety.
However, the effort was unsuccessful as Navya was swept away by the river. During the rescue attempt, the friend sustained serious injuries to her hand and had to be treated for the same. Locals who witnessed the incident alerted others in the area and sought help.
