Mangaluru: Scores of activists and common citizens took part in a protest in Mangaluru Town Hall on July 27, by Catholic Sabha, Mangalore region and other organizations, condemning the horrific incident in Manipur, in which two women were paraded naked and molested.
While speaking on the occasion senior community leader Roy Castellino said, “We are with the people of Manipur. No need to fear. There the violence was concealed by shutting down internet services, which is not acceptable. The incident of women being paraded naked is a horrible and shameful act witnessed by the whole world.” He also expressed extreme disappointment that several churches have also been demolished.
Speaking on the occasion, activist Vidya Dinkar condemned the government’s decision to suspend internet services in Manipur. Also the government has failed to control the law and order situation. She also criticized the government for providing protection only to Adani and Ambani. Condemning any kind of violence against women, she demanded justice for the women who were paraded naked.
Religious leader S. B. Mohammed and Activist Stanley Pinto were also addressed the gathering and and expressed their support to the protestors.
