Udupi: Moral policing will not be tolerated in the district, said Om Prakash, Director-General and Inspector-General of Police, while addressing the presspersons at the headquarters of the Coastal Security Police at Malpe.
“The state police always give priority to women’s security. The police personnel are sensitized and are given special training to handle the women related issues”, he said
He added that naxalite activities in the Western Ghats, is under control. The Anti-Naxalite Force (ANF) and the local police are successful in handling this issue and make the state Maoist free.
“Misuse of social media and false news is another concern. Police is keeping a track on the data sources”, he said.
He said the police had recruited over 8,000 new persons for various posts. They are undegoing training, he said.
On the occasion, certificates and cash prizes were given to the fishermen for rescuing a naval officer who had fallen into the sea, from out of a Dornier aircraft on the border of Karnataka and Goa on March 24.
The fishermen belong to Uttara Kannada district named Vasudev Harikantra, Vishwanath Harikantra, Yadav Mogera, Rajesh Harikantra, Vishnu Harikantra, Premanand Harikantra and Somayya Harikantra.
Amar Kumar Pandey, ADGP (Internal Security), Pratap Reddy, IGP (Internal Security), A.N.S. Murthy, IGP (ANF operations), were present.
