Kushtagi: In a disturbing murder case, Kushtagi police have arrested two individuals, Bhagyashree Hanamanta Dhoni and her current lover Ibrahimsab Darasab Eligara, for the brutal killing of Bhagyashree’s ex-lover, Sharanappa Shivappa Muski, in a tale of love, deception, and revenge.
Bhagyashree, a resident of Mugalakhod village in Belagavi district, had been in a relationship with Sharanappa, a young man from Hiremannapur, after meeting on Instagram. Sharanappa had falsely claimed to earn ₹6,000 a day and used morphed photos to deceive Bhagyashree into believing he was financially well-off. In reality, he was a labourer.
When Bhagyashree ended the relationship, Sharanappa refused to move on, leading to escalating tensions. Enraged by his persistence, Bhagyashree and her current lover, Ibrahimsab, devised a plan to eliminate him. On September 29, they travelled to Hiremannapur, where they strangled Sharanappa and set his body on fire to cover up the crime.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the discovery of the murder, the Kushtagi police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Bhagyashree and Ibrahimsab. The duo has since been remanded to judicial custody. The police team, led by Additional District Superintendent of Police Hemanth Kumar R., Deputy SP Sidlingappa Gowda Patil, and CPI Yashwanth Bisanalli, was instrumental in cracking the case.
Rewards Announced
Koppal District Superintendent of Police Dr. Ram L. Arasiddi commended the investigative team and announced rewards for personnel including Amaresha, Sridhara, Prashantha, Sangamesh, Parashuram, Prasad, and Manjunatha, recognising their efforts in solving the case.
This shocking incident underscores the dangers of online deception and the lethal consequences of obsessive relationships.
