The tragic death of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash has taken a shocking turn as police begin investigating close family members. He was found dead at his HSR Layout residence in Bengaluru on Saturday, with multiple injuries. The authorities have registered a case and launched a detailed probe.
Pallavi, his wife, and Kriti, his daughter, were present at the residence at the time of the incident. Another family member was also in the house. Police have detained all three for questioning. The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Om Prakash’s son.
Initial findings indicate a domestic dispute may have escalated into violence. Reports suggest that an argument between Om Prakash and his wife possibly led to a physical altercation. Police are examining if the situation turned fatal during the conflict.
Investigators recovered two sharp-edged weapons, a glass bottle, and traces of irritants—believed to have been used during the altercation. Sources claim that a call to authorities was made not by those in the home, but by another person who had reportedly been contacted after the incident.
Additional Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar stated, “It appears a sharp weapon was used, leading to substantial blood loss. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway.”
Om Prakash, a 1981-batch IPS officer, served as Karnataka’s DGP in 2015 and held several key posts in his distinguished career.
