Mysuru:The 96th birthday celebrations of well-known Kannada author and the recipient of the Padmashri and Karnataka Ratna awards, Prof D Jawaregowda (Dejagow) was organised by Sri Kuvrmpu Vidyavardaka Trust in collaboration with Sri Kuvempu Vidyaparishat at Sri Kuvempu Ranga Mandir in Jayalakshmipuram on Monday.
“I was a man who was looking after sheep and I didn’t score good marks in school. But later Maharaja College and Kuvempu changed me. Somehow I completed my college. After that I had no employment but I trusted Kuvempu. I knew that he is a man who would lead whole country and even that was true in those days. He is a man who made me a great personality .Kuvempu and I worked together and his support made me to grow this institution beautifully. The present day youth don’t know about Kuvempu and his writings, so everyone must read this writings to know who and how Kuvempu was,” said Dejagow.
“The Anabhagya Yojane is a beautiful scheme and Chief Minister Siddaramaih meets all the qualities of Basavanna and he always said that the good work done for the poor is always good and now Siddaramaih is doing the same. The work done for the welfare of the poor people will be always good, whether it is by the CM or by a common man. Students are the upcoming power of country and they must not waste their time in useless things. There is nothing greater than knowledge and every youth should have a proper education and it must be utilized for the welfare of the society. ‘In my words Kuvempu is not a comman man he is ‘God’ and this land has a good value due to Kuvempu,” he added
Litterateur Dr C P Krishnakumar, Principal of Government First Grade College, Nanjangudu Prof Morabada Malikarjuna, President of Sri Kuvempu Vidyavardaka Trust Dr J Shashidat Prasad, Chairman Dr D K Rajendra, Chief Secretary Dr T Veerabasapa Gowda and others were present on the occasion.
