Mysuru: For 13-year-old Meghana, her fascination for helicopter flying up in the sky cost her dear.
A ninth standard student of St Joseph School in Jayalakshmipuram, Meghana had this insatiable love for choppers and every time there was a chopper flying across the sky, Meghana would climb up the terrace to have a glimpse. Even on Tuesday, she did the same, but this time, there was tragedy in store for her.
Even as Meghana remained gazing at the sky, she lost control and accidentally touched the live 11kv electrical wire, due to which she lost her right hand. The mishap took place at V V Mohalla, at Meghana’s uncle’s house.
The impact was so severe that her fingers and inner skin of her right hand got charred. Alert neighbours who spotted the same, informed her uncle and that was how Meghana was shifted to Brindavan Hospital where she was operated. Her right hand was amputated on Wednesday.
Arun Kumar, father of Megana who is photographer by profession and Public Relation Officer of Mysuru District Videographers and Photographers Association said that Chescom was responsible for what had happened to Meghana.
“The 11kv live electrical wire was very low. This is clear negligence of the Chescom. My daughter was very good in yoga, drawing and painting and apart from this she is also very good in basketball and throwball player. She was preparing to take part in national yoga competition. Now with her right hand being amputated all her dreams have been shattered,” said Arun.
Dr Vijay kumar N, Plastic surgeon who is treating Meghana said that the girl is out of danger.
