Mysuru: “The Union Energy Ministry declared Mysuru to soon be a ‘Solar City,’, thus the District Administration has come forward to install Solar Power plants at Government buildings and parks”, informed Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha.
Addressing the press, she said, that the solar power plants would be installed atop Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) buildings in the first phase.
Elaborating on the plans for the second phase, MUDA Commissioner S. Palaiah, who was present at the meeting, said that such plants would be installed atop CITB Choultry in Hebbal 2nd Stage, MUDA Commercial Complex in Vijayanagar 1st Stage, Kalyana Mantap in Siddarthanagar to generate 163 KW power and supply the same to the residents. He also said that an action plan to spend Rs. 2.4 crore for generation of solar power and its effective supply had been prepared.
Palaiah further said that a technical opinion had been sought from Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.(KPTCL) to install Solar Power panels at the park under the High Tension wire between Hebbal Ring Road and the Railway Track in Yadavagiri.
