350-bed Jayadeva Hospital to extend services to surging heart patients

Mysuru : Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research with 350 beds, lifeline for thousands of heart patients will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on March 11. The new hospital will become fully functional within four to six weeks, said Dr. C N Manjunath, Director of the institute.

Briefing about the new dedicated heart institute located on KRS Road, Dr. Manjunath said on March 4, “The quality of medicare for heart patients in the region and the treatment will also be reasonable akin to the institute in the state capital. The Mysuru unit of the institute with only 110 beds, currently functions out of K R Hospital premises but will soon shift to the new premises,” he added.

The hospital has been constructed with a government grant of Rs 150 Crore, with the institute investing Rs 60 Crore additionally.

At present, there are 180 staff members including five heart surgeons and 12 heart specialists for the Mysuru unit. The new 350-bed hospital is equipped with four operation theatres, four cardiac cathlabs, three Intensive Coronary Care Units (ICCU) of 60 beds, Cardiac CT and others.

The new institute is likely to witness many fold increase in staff with the number of patients on the rise.
